Mitsubishi Outlander & Outlander Sport Are Your Teen’s Perfect Match

When your teen is ready for their first vehicle we are sure that what they want and what you want are probably a little different. For most teens, it is all about the look. The eye-catching body and smooth, sculpted lines draw them in before they have even gotten behind the wheel. Once they do climb inside however, their attention is drawn to the dashboard where they proceed to explore all of the features such as the Bluetooth® system that will allow them to talk on our phone and drive without risking a ticket, because let’s be honest, it’s not like any teenager is capable of being detached from their phone for long periods of time. There is also the SiriusXM Satellite radio that offers literally hundreds of channels to choose from for your traveling listening pleasure. Then there are the fancy features such as the backup camera, adjustable seats, heated seats, heated steering wheels, and so many more features to grab their attention.

At the end of the day all of the bells and whistles are what they are sure to notice first and why not? I mean at the end of the day for a teen it’s all about bragging rights and being able to show off their sweet new ride to their friends and make the jealous. However, as parents there are a few things that I am sure you will remember to consider that your teen will most likely overlook. One factor is the price tag, since as much as your teen would love a brand new vehicle they will probably need to come back to reality and realized that used will fit better into the budget. The second, and most important factor to the parents at least, is safety.

Mom and Dad understand that they can’t let style outshine substance. Therefore, while your teen is exploring the different settings on the driver’s seat, we know that you will be asks about the safety features that this vehicle is equipped with because no matter how cool the car may be if it can’t keep you child safe then it really isn’t that cool.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recently put together a list of the safest and most affordable used cars for teens and the Mitsubishi Outlander and Outlander Sport both made the list. The IIHS included Outlander models 2014 and newer and Outlander Sport models 2011 and new as “Best Choices”. This means that the vehicles all have a starting MSRP of less than $20,000 and earned “Good” ratings in all of the IIHS crash safety tests. Therefore, safety and affordability come together like peanut butter and jelly for both of these vehicles.

“Mitsubishi Motors prides itself on consistently delivering top safety features at an affordable price to ensure our customers receive the best possible value,” said Don Swearingen, executive vice president and chief operating officer, MMNA. “As top sellers and leaders in reliability for the brand, the Outlander and Outlander Sport offer sound reassurance for parents searching for a car for their teen that is both safety conscious and engineered with precision.”
