When it comes to traveling in the winter, there are many important precautions that you should keep in mind in order to ensure a safe traveling experience for you and your passengers. One of the main types of action you can take is to alter your driving to account for the more treacherous road conditions that you are going to be facing. You should also do what you can to make sure that your vehicle is prepared for winter which includes everything from snow tires to rubber floor mats, and more. One winter traveling essential that we recommend everyone keep in their car is an Emergency Winter Driving Kit.

You never know what might happen when you head off down the road, especially when the road conditions are less than ideal (aka covered in ice and snow). You also don’t ever want to be left unprepared in case you should find yourself stranded, especially in cold temperatures and stormy conditions. Therefore, keeping an Emergency Kit in the vehicle packed with all of the essentials will help to keep you prepared for any situation. There are many different types of items that can be included and you should make sure that yours is packed with essentials that would be most beneficial to you.

Items Recommended by AAA include:

  • Bag of abrasive material (sand, salt, or cat litter)
  • Small snow shovel
  • Snow brush
  • Traction mats
  • Flashlight
  • Window-washing solvent
  • Gloves or mittens
  • Ice scraper
  • Cloth or paper towels
  • Booster cables
  • Blanket
  • Warning flares or triangles
  • Cell phone

As we head into 2017 and Mitsubishi begins their centennial celebration, the brand is looking to highlight much of what they have accomplished over the past 100 years. Of course, celebrating Mitsubishi’s success is not just about the company but also about the loyal customers who have helped the brand to stay in business all these years. As a result, they are looking to include those customers in the celebration with a series of “Man on the Street” interviews that they will be conducting with the attendees at various automotive shows throughout the year. These interviews will allow the fans to share what the Mitsubishi brand has meant to them. In this first video in the series, Mitsubishi caught up with a few of attendees at the 2016 LA Auto Show where they asked them to guess how long Mitsubishi has been making cars and then asked them to explain what “Find Your Own Lane” means to them. Hear their responses below!

One of your best defenses against icy winter roads is proper tires and tire maintenance. Check out the frequently asked questions below and if you want to know more, stop by DELLA Mitsubishi!

When should I have my new tires installed?

As soon as the temperature drops and stays consistently freezing bring your vehicle into our service center to have your new tires put on.

How important is tire pressure?

Extremely. The wrong tire pressure can cost you gas mileage and safety! Tires lose pressure as the temperature drops, so be sure to check them at least once a month.

How should I store my tires when I’m not using them?

Indoors, in a clean, cool and dark location. Direct sunlight and sources of heat can damage the tires making them useless the next time you need them.

What should I do before a trip?

Plan your route and check the road conditions before leaving the house. Be sure to have emergency phone numbers ready to go and your cell phone charged. And lastly, check all your fluid.
